Method For Treating Body Soreness

Stretching every day, before and after practice or performances. To

deal with my common (regular) aches I use rest, hot/cold balms,

Epson Salt baths, accupunture.

A Dance Injury

The usual.... stress injuries caused dancing on floors not made for

flamenco.

Once on a double show day I hurt my hand in the first show. I

performed the second one in agony. The next day I ignored it and

hoped it was only bruised. After doing the show for two more days I finally got an xray and found out I fractured a bone in my right

hand. I continued as dance captain and changed the choreography

for the remaining cast. After 6 weeks I rejoined the performance.

Other Passions & Interests

I love music! A passion I share with my husband. We check out

local and touring bands frequently.

A Cool Place I Visited While Traveling For Dance

The Thingvellir National Park in Reykjavik, Iceland known as the

first parliaments of the vikings. Located on an active volcanic site

where the Althing, an openair assembly representing the whole of

Iceland, was established in 930 and continued to meet until 1798.

Over two weeks a year, the assembly set laws seen as a covenant between free men and settled disputes.

The Norwegian fjords and forests, those are magic places where

fairytales become real.

My Favorite Rehearsal Snack

Before: coffee. During: just lots of water. After: A cold beer! and a

nice meal! I don't like to eat before or while rehearsal.

Music I Warm Up To

Flamenco music.... or Metal.

What do you love about dancing?

Learning a new piece, improving, the moment before going on stage, the emotions during the performance. The excitement once it's done and the necessity of doing it again.

Why do you dance?

When I was 7 yearold my mother took me along to her Sevillanas

lessons and I started to imitate and actually learn the steps. I knew

then I wanted to dance and started with lessons the following year.

It has been my way ever since to express myself. It's just something I need to do.

What's the hardest part of being a dancer?

Finding exciting work, staying in shape, auditioning, paying rent.
