Where I'm From

I grew up in Lindenhurst, Long Island NY

My Dance Training

I studied at Eglevsky ballet, S.A.B, and went to college at The State University of New York at Purchase.  One of my favorite teachers was Lida Eglevsky. Even in her 70's she would dance around with the joy of a child. It always inspired me.

Other Work Experience

I've been a coffee barrister, bagel shop manager, newspaper customer service representative, office receptionist, office manager, onsite job coordinator, Pilates studio receptionist and manager, Pilates instructor, dance instructor, choreographer, movement consultant.

Music I Warm Up To

trance music or classical music

A Cool Place I Visited While Dancing on a Tour

St Thomas USVI, where one of the supporters of the dance company took us diving off his boat. After that he brought us to St John where we had wine, food, and great conversation.

My Favorite Rehearsal Snack

nuts and chocolate

Worst Dance-Related Injury

I have had a serious knee injury that required surgery. I snapped the ACL (anterior crucial ligament) in my knee. I had to have a piece of my patella tendon cut off and made into a new ligament. I was not able to dance for 8 months and had to go through extensive physical therapy.

Method For Treating Sore Muscles

heating pads and arnica cream

What do you love about dancing?

I love when I can make someone feel an emotion. One time someone came up to me and said "when I watch you dance I feel as if everything is all right in the world, things just all of a sudden make sense"

Why do you dance?

Because when I'm not dancing all I think about when I hear a song or feel a vibration is moving my body to it. I also feel like when I experience an emotion or experience in life, the only way I know how to translate what I'm feeling is through dance and movement.

Other Passions

I have been teaching Pilates for over 10 years and I specialize in working with people who have injuries or are disabled. It's so rewarding to be able to help people move through their lives with strength, increased mobility, and less pain.
